Circular water: how wave parks reuse treated water safely

Treated wastewater reuse is an established practice at international parks. Here is how the proposed surf lagoon would follow it.

Not new, and that is the point

Routing treated wastewater through filtration and UV disinfection into a lagoon is a well-established approach used at international parks. It is not novel, and we do not claim it is.

Standards for human contact

Water in the proposed lagoon would be treated to meet recognised safety standards for recreational human use, with continuous monitoring. Final specifications depend on engineering studies not yet commissioned.

The wider target

The campus targets solar-led supply with backup generation, and 70-90% recycled material content. These are targets, not commitments, until design is complete.
